Men And The Man Cave
For any man in a home or some other dwelling, knowing how to go about perfecting the art and science of the man cave can be an important skill to exhibit on occasion, especially when moving into a new home or when space in the old home has opened up. For sure, get into the new home and stake a claim on a space before the movers get there. Then, get ready for big screen and home theater heaven.
This is especially so when one considers that in a growing household consisting of a wife and a few kids there probably is very little of anything in a home these days that a man can call his own. This isn't a complaint about the wife and the kids but rather an observation that allowing a man to have his own little personal cave might do a guy some good.
And even if there wasn't something like a cave before maybe the kids have finally moved out and gone to college or are out on their own and discovering how hard it is to get up on time and go to work, for example. Maybe there's now a room that will make for a good cave. It might be full of stuff right now -- for example, who needs four home space heaters? -- But it will soon become the cave of a man's dreams.
There may even be some nice space out in the garage that the boy and his former band used to play in. They walled off a nice room and they put carpeting down, so half the job is done. Just move that old Epiphone electric guitar out of the way, or hang it up on the wall, and then get cracking on lining up a really nice TV set, at minimum.
And this brings us to the point where we need to figure out what should be in one of these caves. The TV is the first thing in, of course, but that's followed immediately by a really nice lounger. The TV should be, at minimum, 44 inches but the larger the better. And the lounger should be something that could give an aircraft carrier a run for its money.
Lastly, don't forget to throw in a nice home theater system and maybe even a small refrigerator and a popcorn maker or some other sort of grill. And if the money is a little tight, consider maybe packing up all that alpine skiing equipment that was bought several years ago and used for one single trip to the ski slopes. Somebody out there will want to pay for the stuff, most likely.
Certainly, no man out there is asking for a break when it comes to familial responsibilities, but almost every man these days is wondering how to go about carving out a new man cave when he's able to do so. He can go in there and hibernate on occasion or just take a break to watch the weekend football game and have a little popcorn and some peace and quiet. What can be wrong with that?
